Not every pass we film has stupendous statistics, but what is true is that every one has a snippet of history to tell and our featured pass today tells the story of Japie Lutz, the creator of one of the longest and most innovative irrigation canal systems on the Orange River, which lead to the establishment and ultimate thriving town of Kakamas in the Northern Cape. The town even developed their own hydro-electric plant on one of the canals and had so much surplus power, they offered to supply the bigger town of Upington with electricity.
In our news feature today we take a look at the modest gravel pass of Duiwelsnek, the town of Kakamas, a fresh peek at the undeniable popularity of the Ben 10 Eco Challenge, a feature on MPSA in Getaway magazine, a YouTube clip of the MPSA Expresso interview and other snippets of news revolving around our passes and poorts. The page is open to all Wild Dogs members until Sunday night. Enjoy the story!
