Komatipoort Border and road to Maputo

How convenient, or not, is the current Komatipoort border crossing process into Mozambique?

How is the road to Maputo from there? I see Google currently says it is like a 2:00 drive. I haven't been in a long while, but cannot remember it being so short, or easy, has the road been upgraded, etc?
