After many thousands of kilometers I have managed to reduce the weight of my luggage to a maximum of 17 kg.
Keeping luggage weight to a minimum is more important than the weight of the bike.
I use two Ortlieb rolltop bags (35l and 15l) and tie them down using 5mm shock cord.
Equipment is as follows
Two man tent-down sleeping bag-self inflating mattress-gas cooker-stainless mug-stainless flask whiskey 750ml-1l water.
Full size down pillow- electric compressor - 1l of oil- some bike specific spares and puncture repair kit.
Clothing 1 set of thermal longs-one each of the following- Tshirt - socks- underpants.
Tank bag- Leatherman-teaspoon-Mp3 player-cellphone and chargers-face cloth for cleaning visor and glasses.
Toiletries - Light weight towel -soap -aps-small shampoo and soap toothpaste and toothbrush and a roll of toilet paper.
Small roll of tinfoil- salt.
Cold or wet weather gear- rain jacket -rain pants and down jacket.
Generally I don,t take food as it is normally available on the road.
Above setup works for me regardless of the length of the trip.
The 1150 comes standard with a pretty comprehensive set of tools.
