Hi guys,

Quick one on route planning. Here is what I currently do:

1. Create a route (directions) in google maps to include all the twisty interesting roads I want.
2. Get the link to those directions.
3. Convert that link to a .gpx file in GPS Visualiser
4. Import that .gpx file into Garmin Basecamp as a track.
5. Make sure it looks the way it should.
6. Download onto my Garmin Montana
7. On the Montana go to tracks and navigate the track I want.

This stops the Garmin from wanting to navigate for you, you just follow the track.

OK, so my question arises because it seems google does not want you to drag the route around onto all the nice roads anymore and says "Sorry, we could not calculate driving directions..."

What are other people doing and is there an alternative to google for the basic route planning? Aside from Basecamp?

Thanks in advance!
