Hi all
The only time I entered into Moz via Kosi bay (with a bakkie), there was sand. Sand freaking everywhere. I was still a biking newbee and that road intimidated the hell out of me. As I grew more experienced, the thought of riding that sand to Ponta, or Swaziland, or Maputo became a bucket list item.
However, I saw a couple of articles (like this one) this week that mention that the new Maputo-Catembe bridge has now been opened, cutting travel time from Ponta to Maputo down to 1.5 hours. Does this mean the road is now tarred all the way? (Freaking Chinese). I'm sure there is still enough sand, but is it now possible to drive to Ponta do Ouro, or Maputo from Kosi bay in a regular 4x2 car?
Thanks!
