I am planning a multi-day adventure ride this December and thought I would share my route:
Day 1: 451km, 58% dirt
Somerset West, Wellington, Ceres, Sutherland, Fraserburg, Munga Farm stay
Day 2: 352km, 61% dirt
Loxton, Victoria West, De Aar, Philipstown, Eerstepoort, Colesberg
Day 3: 635km, 24% dirt
Smithfield, Wepener, Ladybrand, Ficksburg, Fouriesburg , Bethlehem, Petrus Steyn, Heilbron
Day 4: 426km, 15% dirt
Frankfort, Villiers, Standerton, Bethal, Carolina, eNTokozweni, Sabie
Day 5: 392km, 58% dirt
Nelspruit, Badplaas, Chrissiesmeer, Sheepmoor, Daggakraal, Wakkerstroom
Day 6: 524km, 40% dirt
Vryheid, Nqutu, Kranskop, Greytown, New Hanover, Hillcrest
Day 7: 478km, 67% dirt
Richmond, Hela Hela, Creighton, Franklin, Swartberg, Matatiele, Mount Fletcher, Elandshoogte, Rhodes
Day 8: 372km, 68% dirt
Barkley East, Dordrecht, Queenstown, Whittlesea, Katberg, Cathcartvale, Hogsback
Day 9: 451km, 67% dirt
Alice, Fort Beaufort, Fort Brown, Riebeek East, Bracefield, Addo, Uitenhage, Patensie, Bruintjieskraal
Day 10: 136km, 78% dirt
Mount Ingwe, Rocklands, Port Elizabeth
Day 11: 492km, 65% dirt
Uitenhage, Steytlerville, Willowmore, Klaarstroom, Prince Albert, Calitzdorp
Day 12: 438km, 54% dirt
Van Wyksdorp, Muiskraal, Barrydale, Suurbraak, Swellendam, Riviersonderend, Genadendal via Greyton, Theewaters, Franschoek, Stellenbosch, Somerset West
In total it will be approximately 5 200km, 52% dirt. I am aiming to navigate mostly using 'road book' style planning and a GPS backup where the route is mostly unnamed dirt roads.
