Next round foot-ups this Sunday 13 April.  Starts at 10am on the farm Bonthuys, near Stellenbosch.  R50 per trials bike.  Sorry oaks, but enduro bike fitted with trials tyres not acceptable.
What to expect?  There are eight sections laid out.  Each section has a common start and finish gate, and from there onwards, there are three different lines, according to your skill level.  The sections are laid out in a shaded river bed, in a forest, alongside the car park, and the one that's gonna get all the attention, is the farmyard implements section.  Here, you get to ride on and off flatbed trailers, over old ploughs, around the tractor, etc.
The full trial is 4 laps of all eight sections, and the person with the lowest amount of foot dabs, wins.  It is not a race, there is no timing involved.  Having said that, to ride all 4 laps will take around 3 and half hours.  As with enduro's, the first lap is a sighting lap, and can take up to two hours to complete.  Typically you will walk each section, and watch one or two riders, before you go.
in general, the Clubman line does not require you to be able to wheelie, or ride up or down step ups.  Clubman line, will, however, test your hill climbing abilities, tight cornering, and off camber skills.
The Expert and Master lines are progressively more difficult.  Great fun, and a lovely Sunday morning challenge on a beautiful farm.  Spectators also welcome.
