The best thing is to go and test your gear
Basically for the legs
Thermal underwear - I use 1st Ascent, they have a good range of thermals top and bottom
Then I wear knee guards / braces
Then MX pants
Then if its really cold I wear Ski pants.. these ones...
If you dont want to layer up to the point where you can hardly move then relook at the quality of your layers, by buying quality you can reduce the number of layers.
