I have t4a maps on my garmin fenix 5x, it has uses in a hiking situation but i cant see it being practical for riding exept as an emergency backup. Running the live map view also chows the watch battery very quick
Just be careful, you now have to fica/register all sim cards. Closest place to vioolsdrift going north was keetmans, if you go.west you might get lucky at ausenkeer or rosh pina but im not sure
You must have some idea of what you want to see and a rough route, let us know and we can fill in a few gems along the way. Where abouts are you entering the country
I take spare tubes and a patch kit. get one of those tools that screw into the valve stem, makes installing much easier and a snap jack/crock stok thing is a must, believe me its a ballache without one
The forms are still there but and you need to know your vin and odo reading for the road tax but nobody checks anything. Coming back into SA its hit or miss sometimes they want to see all the reg docs sometimes you breeze straight through
And just for clarity, we rode lekker in the Doros area today saw plenty game after the rains, rhino and what I think is lion spoor but no other people at all
Went through today, active isnt the word I would use but theres something happening there, the one in doros had no people but the one just outside the ugab river had a few guys chilling in a hut
