Cerakote is the way to go, I did mine black inside, silver outside and it is not brown after a few years. Advantage of the Cerakote, it keeps heat off the engine.

My preference will be for a 500/501 vs 690/701 - just as much bike, but in my opinion, easier and cheaper to maintain.

Great, just do it, realise your biggest competitor is yourself, race yourself and enjoy "winning" yourself as the weeks go by. Racing at 60 is a lot less stressful for me - beating my other self 🏁
