3 weeks on the bicycles and still alive!
« on: June 16, 2012, 01:24:22 pm »
Things change so quickly in our lives and we've only got ourselves to blame, see this thread

http://www.wilddog.za.net/forum/index.php?topic=66971.0.

We are very close to departure on our next BIIGGG trip, this time on two bicycles, leaving on 26 June.

For those interested to see what we'll be up to, you can have a look at our website.  We'll update this during our trip.
www.seeyouwehnwegetthere.com

We also have a facebook page if you want to follow us there (link on our homepage through the 'Like' button.

A quick summary of what we're planning on doing.

Fly from London to Bali

From Bali, we'll be heading north through Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, China, Vietnam, Cambodia then fly to India and on to Nepal.

Will probably take us about 12-18 months and around 20,000km.

Hou bene, hou is all I can think of for now.

The butterflies are causing chaos in my stomach as I sit here to type this.

I'll try to update this thread too as and when...

Applied for our 2 month Indonesian visa today, should be ready in 3 days.

For those interested in touring bikes and our set-up, have a look out our bike pages which I updated yesterday.

Thanks, I'm sure we'll need it.

Sold the car yesterday (what a relief) and had leaving drinks at work tonight.

Well, we've been on the road for almost 3 weeks, and still alive.

Today is a rest day for us.  We're still trying to get use to the heat and humidity.  Yesterday was about 36 deg in the sun with humidity of about 75%.

We left Bali and we're now on Java.  We were going to go via the south coast, but there are lots of hills compared to the northern route.

We had a horrendous 3rd day of our trip.  We only manged 33km, and it took us almost 12 hours.  It was a continuous climb from 200m to 1500m.

We've uploaded some photos to our website and some diary entries.

Lekker avontuur :thumleft:
Het ook so n bietjie langpad met my fiets gedoen.
Het vir my n kleiner voorwiel as agterwiel opgesit wat beteken jy ry so effens afdraand op gelyk pad wat darem so n bietjie gehelp het
