And another thank you is called for:-

Dear Mr Weather-God Sir,

Thank you so much for holding back on the rain over KZN until Monday and allowing us to ride the KZN bash with no rain and mud.

It is appreciated.

If you could do the same for us next year it would be really great!

Kind Regards

GundaGunda.

ps. My landlady says thanks for the rain today for her garden.

+10˛!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DISMAL outside!!! And what did I do on Sunday afternoon...cleaned the scoot, the car, plus topped up the pool! All for nothing... >:(

Thanks to everyone for a lekker bash and especially to Essbee and Co for the wonderful organising. You guys have such great riding country round that part of the world. Gotta go back there.

Gunda Gunda - that ride you led on Saturday was awesome and the views from the knoll were something else. Quite daunting riding across the saddle onto the knoll, knowing its only a few metres wide with sheer drops on either side and quite a little climb up onto the top of the knoll.

Thanks to my wife, son - Superoo, Tommy and Grantis,  for making it such an enjoyable bash.

Til the next one.

What a lekker weekend - well done to the organisers and Gunda always has interesting routes lurking in his GPS.

Any of you bastids that rode back along the gravel road between Himeville and Nottingham Rd on Sunday would have seen me truly toiling into a headwind on a mountain bike to ride 100km. A few DS bikes cruised past me and I was most, most envious.

Stupid is as stupid does.

Goodness...a voice from the past! Where have you been???

Carrots, Laurika and Myself decided to trailer our bikes to a caravan park in the Nottingham Road Area, and from there do dirt where ever we could.
Here we had just off loaded the bikes, after a restive trip from JHB on Thursday afternoon.

Breakfast at the Notties Hotel the Friday morning, having met up with Tommy Transalp and Cyclops and his family

Laurika, indulging in early toast and jam

Laurika and Carrots

Cyclops , Mrs Cyclops (Lynn) and son enjoying brekkie.

 Laurika, delighted with her brekkie

Carrots , actually had food.(Brekkie) and he ate all his food.  YaYa     Chased by a Pilsener.

Myself tucking in too. I had lots and lots of tee and coffee with this brekkie. LEKKER, LEKKER

After brekkie, the three of us ( Carrots, Laurika, and myself) took the lower Loteni road. About half way to Underberg, we turned east toward Impendle, and work our way on dirt, virtually to Richmond.
Underway , on the Loteni road, Carrots needed to do a No2, ( He has serious Jippo Guts) so Laurika and myself carried on for a while then stopped and waited for him in the shade od some wattle trees.
Waiting for the action

My Steed

Action Arrives
Eventually Carrots arrives, much relieved, and full of smiles again.
Chasing us down

On we went and it was not long or Galloping Carrots AGAIN need to do a No2 HaHA. So Laurika and I again continue some way.   We cross this bridge with a very inviting river down there. Here we stop and each go take a dip, whilst waiting for The Wortel
Myself

Laurika’s chance

Pic of the river in perspective. Beautiful country this. So much water !, just running into the ocean and NO, NIL agriculture. What a waste.

Here Carrots arrives again.   Time to move on, no dip for him

In Boston we topped off the bikes tanks, and ask a local where we can by cold beers etc. He indicated a shebeen across the road, with just its red roof sticking out behind the tall grass.  Off we went and what a delight we found. Next to the local trading post, is this VERY neat and clean shebeen with the lady on duty giving us excellent service.

Damn hot outside , cool inside, with Storm on ice. Heaven in the lower midlands, I say !  Here we are having a lighter moment

Having arrived at the High-Over Sactuary / bash venue, in temps of 33 – 35 Deg C, we quickly unpacked and headed straight for the river for another dip.
Laurika

Myself

Carrots, relaxed in the water

Myself drip drying

Our chalet No 5

The chalet braai area

Next morning (Saturday) instead of doing the local valey run with the organisers, we decided to venture the area.  So with White Rhino as our guide, we visited the Byrne valley. We went up a cul-de-sac road, and winded our way  up, and up a narrow little raod to a look-out point high above the valley.
Slakkie on the ride with his Africa Twin.

Some natural forest. Lekker cool in the shade inside these forests.

Guys & Girls viewing the valley.

Carrots, White Rhino, and Laurika

House with a grass roof (I though that was only seen in Europe etc.) COOL

Laurika on the way down through the forest

Mooch   on his awesome sounding KTM   8037

My steed

Opposite view of the valley. You can see the road we took up to the top on the other side.

Surprise !!  White Rhino’s route takes us to Boston, so we haul into the Shebeen AGAIN.  LEKKER

Having left the shebeen we moved on to the PICKLEPOT, half way between Boston and Bulwer.

This is a MUST STOP, shop.  GREAT SERVICE

Another river shot.

Laurika filling up Plaasmiesie, on the return to Nottingham Road.

The three of us were treated  to a chocolate ice cream each by Laurika. Thanks “L”

We thoroughly enjoyed an awesome weekend  with the KZN dogs, and riding awesome country.
WE will be back again.

Thanks to the organisers for choosing this wonderful venue, and making the weekend of great memories

See YA all next time. :thumleft:
