DOHC for CRF450 Ralley

Check:

Caption states: "the engine that powers the 450 HRC rally operates (using) DOHC. A first for the Reds."

Some say that they spot similarities between the head design of this HRC 450 and the CBR: The cam chain tentioner is located in the head (CBR design) and not the cylinder as before.

My guess is that they are chasing HP as opposed to reliability.

I can also spot connections to an external oil cooler

I have a mate that Rides one and he says that it is Sweet to ride compared to the older 450 X.

I suppose the Dakar will be the proving ground for the new Rallye Honda!

I wonder if carbs are banned next year if the X will also not be imported to SA ? Time for Honda to step up and update the bike along with the other brands.

Banned where?
I prefer carb over Fi, especially when refueling at dingy places in the middle of nowhere.
Fi feels lame/tame.. could be Henko's useless Husky 610 and not its Fi?

On Saturday we drag raced on dirt and tar. The CRF even has a higher top speed than the 610 :eek7:

The DR's and XRL's will not be imported anymore, sure the same will apply to all carb bikes (unless competition offroad models will be excluded ?) . HK's TE is missing some oomph. I also found the Fi feeling pap unless the software setup, power commander whatever is used needs adjustment. The carb is much more responsive while the Fi more linear. He said my carb bike is much faster

It could be that they banned those 20 year old designs due to homologation issues.

I trust that Honda will prevent its flagship products from being banned by keeping their emissions in tact via well tuned carbs or Fi  :thumleft:
