I had the new TransAlp for the weekend. What a nice bike. LGF and I took the bikes out on Sunday morning. Here are some of the pics:
We did some tar to start off with. The bike is an absolute pleasure in the passes ;D
Saasveld road:
I was nervous to take it onto gravel at first. Any bike that's this good on tar had to be terrible on the gravel. What a surprise! It was a pleasure to ride on gravel. It felt no different on the gravel than it did on tar. It has great suspension and felt sure footed even though I was running on Tourance's. Very well balanced and I have to say the off road ability surprised the hell out of me. Who would have thought.
I must say the bike surprised me. I liked it a lot more than I thought it would. There are some things I'd change. The exhaust for one, the 650 had a better beat. Better wind protection would also be nice. All in all a good package. It does what it was designed to do very well. It also looks much better in real life than what I originally thought on the photos.
