Another Canal ride â?? Harties to Beestekraal and back -13 April 2008
A friend (Widget) and I went to follow the â??canal routeâ? we saw on this site. (thanks GundaGunda for your report) Everything went well until we turned left somewhere where the route goes right. We donâ??t have as GPS but was not really lost due to the hills in the distant, although I had mistaken one hill as the little mountain that runs next to the Thabazimbi road on the east. Anyway we had a blast and wannit to return straight home after having breakfast at Beestekraal stasie due to time constraints. The friendly lady there came to chat with us and after she heard that we doing the â??off-roadâ? thing gave us directions to the canal route that runs along the eastern side of the main road. We decided to give it a try. We enjoyed this route much more as there was real â??water crossingsâ? and the scenery was awesome. The whole ride went without any incident. The Transalp even made it home . Unfortunately I did not take to many pics. It took us about 5 hours including traveling from Pta and back for the odd 220km.
Our First water crossing! Yay!!
