On the spur of the moment on last Saturday evening (11.00 pm) I decided I wanted to go for a ride. I hadn't ridden for two months now and my PMS (Parked Motorbike Syndrome) was getting really bad. I had been waiting for parts to arrive from RAD Moto as customs had held back all their orders to check every single box and I had only just replaced the from brake master cylinder, rear plastics and ignition cover on Saturday morning before work. The thought behind a nice solo ride was to test run all my repairs but any excuse would have done.

Now last time I went to Magaliesburg was with Saddleup and I thought I do something similar and stay away from the over traveled Breedts Nek and stay south.

I left home relaxed and later than usual. Feeling fresh I took the usual route to the Sasol on the N14 and continued from there on some more tar and then onto gravel heading west. The route I took from there seemed to get better and better, passing through nice open gravel to farmer-only traveled roads and gradually nice hilly climbs and descents. Passing green farmlands and reserves with a real bushveld feel.  Ended up on the loop back going through Hekpoort and into Hartbeespoort. This must be the best time of the year to ride in this area. Next time I do this route I will definitely pop in to Brauhaus Am Damm for 'refreshment' and lunch.
