Thanks for taking us along with you Joey! It was epic! Congratulations on making it through what may just be the most gruelling sport event in the world.

It's like this every year: I start watching all the speed freaks at the head of the pack (the spectacular riding and excitement!), but as the Dakar unfolds, I find myself spending more and more time reading about and following the tough guys who are struggling at the rear end. The guys who seem to have superhuman tenacity and sheer determination in the face of adversity. I try to imagine what it must be like to ride rough from sun-up to long after dark, and then have to do all the preparation for the next day. And then do it again and again, for almost two weeks. My imagination and words fail me. Respect.

Makes two of us.  For me, the true spirit of the Dakar lies in the back with the likes of Joey.  Well done Joey - I am a truly proud South African after the 2017 Dakar!

I'm just a bit early.
Employer organised an event and Joey is keynote speaker. Should be starting in about 10 minutes

In that pic he is trying to figure out what he is going to do if he needs to re-adjust his ... errrmmm package ... without anyone knowing because the podium is completely see-through ;)

I should get the first prints this week sometime so I'll bring a bunch down with me for whoever wants. A little sneaky before the launch day!
See you there👊🏻🏁
