It depends where you ride, how you ride, and for how long you'd want to keep the bike.

1190 prices seem to fall faster than most other bikes?

If I were to buy a Fat Annie, it would be the AT, currently.

For me buying a bike has nothing to do with logic, better resale value or after sales service.

Buying a bike is a passion and you should go for the one that makes you smile and want to ride more. IMO you buy a bike with your heart and emotions and not your brain

AT makes the same power as a SE and HP2 ? I vote AT, did not like it in the beginning untill I saw the red and white one. Must say I think it looks better than a 1190 R, and also sure to become a legend like the older AT's ?

Help me out here. A 1190R sold for around R150k in 2013.  If you get R130k now for a well looked after bike - I think it is fair wrt retaining value?

I agree, people forget how much the new price have increased since 2013.
They thinking in terms of paying R200k now.

Also wonder how people can call the AT reliable??
None of them have enough KM on to judge that just yet. Yes in the past Honda was reliable, but every model is different.

If you park your bike to go out for a lekker meal with the miss.. then you own a Honda.

1st you got there with no issues, and you have money in your pocket to pay for the meal.

How can we say Honda is reliable.. show me one that isn't.

If its airbox was designed by anyone other than a chimp it will be more reliable overall...

I had my 1190 for nearly 2 years, in that time it spent 6 months at the dealership.

I am a big big Honda fan and have owned several KTM's. If it was my choice, I would pick the AT, just because it is close to my current bike in riding style.

I have taken few 1190R's for a spin and although it is probably just as dirt worthy as the AT, it feels less so and a bit more tar orientated. In the same way the 1190 is basically just as dirt worthy as the 990R that I currently own, but the 990R just feels happier when on rough technical terrain.

The other reason is that the AT feels like a more 'exclusive' bike to me at this point in time. But again, this is my perception and my heart talking. I love the 1190R and the specs of it, but for some reason it doesn't trigger my emotional side like the 990R does.

I'm not a big fan of the 1190 so I'd choose the AT
But if I already had a bike AND 160K then I'd buy neither and rather blow the money on a trans-Africa trip

Not the worst advice at all, I was gonna sell my Transalp 700 and buy the AT for sure, but selling a bike in this market is not the easiest thing in the world especially with winter approaching, so ive been thinking of a South America trip with the money instead and just keep the transalp.
