Some background, the XT660Z has done some tough rides with Xpat on board my only contribution was some muddy road through the Groot Marico. Ok I also did Kalahari without an oil pump without much fuss. One thing I have always wanted to do is give it a good clean round the exhaust pipes and shock as the miles were starting to show. Firstly the bike is easy to work on, everything is straight forward to take apart and access not bad at all. Within an hour I had all the parts off and got hold of some engine cleaner and a brush and I was on my way. The next day she almost looked like new, sign of a well built bike I would say  8) Some random pics.

Shiny headers

Dirty pipes yuck

Dirty shock, super yuck

Nice clean shock and the secret to this bike handling much better than my old one, Hyperpro spring !

Putting things back together
