Ten things you might not know about the KTM 1290 Super Adventure R

This is a fun piece I did after the local launch of the new KTM adventure range in the Cape. I learnt a lot about the 1290 R at the press presentation at the World Launch in Peru, and I learnt even more at the press presentation at the Local Launch. Incidentally, this bike was more fun to ride at the Cape than it was in Peru, and I had a lot of fun riding it in Peru.

I don't think he's quite good enough to do the Desert Run yet. Maybe after a few more Dakar wins...

I see many in Europe have already taken delivery of their bikes - all seem ecstatic, but true to KTM, there are a couple of minor bugs, that need sorting

Because it has to move a quarter of a ton forward.

I like every angle on this bike except she's got a face only a mother could love.

I think that's probably similar to what the BMW cars were when they made some radical design changes - some love it from day 1 and others hate it, but after some time it grows on people

I personally love the new KTM headlight design and it would be a plus point if I was to upgrade

RAD, yep def getting the quick shifter, but not sure what accessories are in stock. limited number of bikes arrive at dealers tomorrow... world shortage i believe due to unexpectedly high demand.  A bunch of 1190 parts fit it like dongle, bash plate etc which i am moving across from my 1190 you can compare parts numbers if they are the same then they will fit.

I'm sure you're gonna love the bike - that motor is INCREDIBLE! and it just gets better as it picks up kms..... love mine!

From reports I've read in Europe, all stock is being slurped up, as it comes in.

No, I thought the exact same thing.  It looks like an upside down labia.  It wouldn't keep me from buying the bike though as I think it's going to be fabulous.
