I remember Brett Cummings loosing out to some Dutchie or Frenchie in the Malle Moto class because the latter allegedly received preferential treatment a couple of years ago.  Simple things like taking a shower at one of the team trucks and getting technical assistance where its not allowed but it apparently being covered up because of his connection via family or some shit.

I still believe Brett was, apart from Alfie, one of our toughest and most competitive  racers ever in the Motos. Who remembers Brett's WD name (something like Rally....), maybe he can chip in here with some more details.  .

I remember Brett telling us that his fork seals blew and he had no idea how to fix them. He went over to the KTM compound to ask for advice and the one of the mechanics took a fork, stripped it in front of him, showed him how to fix and reassemble it, and poured the exact amount of fork oil in two bottles to take with. All within the rules.
Why do things that only happen to stupid people always happen to me?

Hmm, risking everything with a wheelie off the podium.....just heard a rider broke his arm on the liasson, a straight forward tar road, probably doing the same thing.

I have even more than usual interest in this year’s race. Besides team Gazoo for which I have been working on the logistics side for the last three years, I also assisted in getting Wessel Bosman’s bike and kit to Peru
