TP is gunning it so far first on WP1. But Barreda doesn't seem that bad either - he managed to open a gap on AVB, even though he is opening and AVB following.

I wonder where that road goes? And that, has usually made all the difference. Appologies to Mr Frost

Barreda losing big time on WP3 - over 10 minutes over TP and 5 minutes on AVB. Anybody aware about what is happening? Has he got lost for a bit?

BB falling down behindand has been overtaken some time ago . The sharp end - physically - is Kevin B, AVB and TP riding together withing few seconds.

Looks like BB either got lost, or the knee is getting better of him sadly.

Glad to see Toby doing his thing and Jbb getting left behind! KTM!

If KTM doesn't take it, I would like to see P Quintanilla or AvB take it!

BB seems to have stopped time leakage - got 10 seconds back on Meo. Not a big deal, but seems to indicate that he is still hauling and the time slippage was probably because of navigational error, rather than sore knee. Moreover, now he has 3 people opening for him, so we should see soon enough if he can catch up with them and hang on.

Will be interesting if TP who is now in the leading group will try to run away and open or just let everybody behind to catch up.

TP would however need to gooi a bit more kole as he needs 13mins to get to AVB and around 10 mins for Benevides

So it will be interesting if he is going to risk to try to shake them off and navigate on his own. I think they both have what it takes to just tag him today and keep their time advantage (minus the 3 resp 6 minutes Toby gained today) into the next stage.

But we will see. Maybe Toby has found his past form and will risk gunning it and navigating at the same time. But I don't think so - he is pretty cautious this Dakar.

Yes i still think his fitness is holding him back and yes that massive rod in his leg also still very fresh in his mind. Still very impressive to ride like this with no real time to train.
Definitely a VERY interesting Dakar so far   :thumleft: :thumleft: :thumleft:

WP 2 - JBB lost another minute to leader Mao, but more importantly pulled back almost minute from TP. Clearly even TP is not at his best opening so far.

Edit: Sorry - WP5

Toby is opening (with AVB and KB) and clearly he is not going to take risks so he eased up. Even JBB is now closing slowly his gap to TP (but not to Meo - but I don't think he cares about him).

I just checked - it is not leading trio upfront, but foursome - JBB is right on the heels of TP, AVB and KB, trailing just 6 seconds (meaning physically on the course, not in terms of stage results).
