Belgium ghost town - Doel

Very interesting spooky. Any background? It looks well maintained. What happened?

How much time do you need to finish a death run, and how many are organised a year, considering this is your 2nd one?
The maximum time is 24 hours but they extended it a little bit this year. They had 13 000 competitors. Not sure about other events and do not really need to do more. Once a years is crazy enough. In the Netherlands they have a 200km event, the Vierdaagse.
Yes, the 4daagse is a massive one here in NL. Dedication to finish that...

Smoking the cemetery... DIY exorcism?

Amazingly neat and no broken windows - in SA it would all be rubble by now :'(
The town is turning into an outdoor art space.

We all pay a tax to our religion of choice and these funds are used to keep these facilities in good order. May actually be worth it.

The water events you referred to earlier made me think of this this is somewhere in France (maybe even close to Belgium). Combining biking and water. You have similar there in Belgium?

No not exactly. But, in the Netherlands they have a beach race that I have watched. Very impressive. Will see what I do next year. Looks like fun but not good for the bike.

One of those "special walks" photo's looks like a stand-off between the bikers and the walkers. When was the ride? Looks like serious business, although beautiful through the woods.

Those were officials. Busy timing the test. Overall they gave us 80 minutes to complete a loop. Was great for me as I had enough time to eat and drink something after each lap. Five laps becomes a long day. Race from 10:12 to latest 16:52.
