Parts I've never heard of.
« on: February 09, 2018, 01:08:39 pm »
I'm embarrassed to show my ignorance because there used to be a time when I knew every single component on a motorcycle, what it did, and how to deal with it.

That's why I feel like a total nerd asking this but I see that lots of bikes these days have a TFT screen.

What are TFT's and why do they need screening?  ???

not sure if youre trolling,

TFT Screens are a type of screen used for the dash, like LCD etc.

Nope, wasn't trolling. Genuine ignorance. :-[ Thanks. :thumleft:

I can see where it's probably cheaper to produce than cable driven speedometers and tachometers, but I guess it costs a bit more to replace/repair than a broken speedo cable!

More clever than cool. Hmmm....

......and I suppose it's all interlinked in a Canvas, sorry, Canbus system so that if one function mals, the rest all packs up in sympathy so the bike wont start.  :(

Alcohol is essentially nature’s Leatt Brace – with it, you might not be able to move worth sh*t, but you can take a slam or two and be no worse for the wear.

Possibly because the inner cable broke, but it didn't stop the bike.

But as I suspect probably much cheaper for the manufacturer to produce, whilst being a hellofa lot more expensive for the consumer to buy. :patch:

....and of course impossible for Joe Average to work on.  >:(

Those screens are wrongly coded, they are TTFN ...!   Ta Ta for now 🙄🙄
the air is cooler and more petroleum-distillate infused in a garage, this clarifies the mind and helps with the understanding of all things mechanical. In contrast, air in the house carries the latent bi-products of sanitation chemicals and room air fresheners. This, in turn, causes the testicles to retreat slightly, reducing mechanical aptitude by an order of magnitude. Then again, maybe it's just that the beer fridge is in the garage.
