Straightening front forks
« on: February 12, 2018, 05:35:31 pm »
Guys

I am busy with restoring a Yamaha RD50. (Danie, you will love this one). The front forks are slightly bent. Is there anyone in Cape Town who can strip and straighten the fork tubes?

I am thinking Tim Bosson but expert dogs might have better ideas?

Secondly, the standard pipe is a bit moeg. A nice nickel plated expansion chamber tickles my fancy. Do’nt think Bosson will tackle a custom job and I am struggling to contact Graham Coker. Any clever dogs that can help? Who is building 2t pipes currently?

Cheers

You can bring me the fork to me if you like - or drop them off at Flying Brick and I will fetch them from there.

Will do Mike. Now, who makes expansion chambers these days?

Straightening forks is a huge job, and making up an expansion chamber virtually impossible. ;)

But selling that RD to me is easy. :pot: :pot:

No idea on how to post pics😬 Photobucket died and I never bothered after that. A mate of mine just bought a fully restored RD 50 from a chap in Jhb. Red colour. Lovely bike. I am not restoring to original colour, which was silver. I am going for the Kenny Roberts yellow with black checks
