congrats. If I may ask, how tall are you? (if the bike seems a bit tall). What are you paying? Are they selling 2017 models for significantly less?  fuelly.com is saying 17.4km/l - avg for 79 fill ups. not bad

Iím 1,79m....... Clearly Dwerg is adopted

Waiting for a quote from dealer, but have my sights on a 2017 with extras at a steal. Viewing it this weekend

The 1090 comes with the above bits as standard.  Same as the 2016 1190 and then 1290.

sounds like the bees knees: https://ultimatemotorcycling.com/2017/04/03/2017-ktm-1090-adventure-r-first-ride-test-12-fast-facts/

power to weight wise, the 1090R trumps the 1190.. people often dont realise that we dont have the ability to sense power or torque of an engine - only acceleration of the bike. and that is not only determined by the engine.

power to weight wise, the 1090R trumps the 1190..

Negative.

1190:
150hp  210kg  = 714.29hp/ton

1090:
125hp 207kg  =  603.86hp/ton

Please explain how 714 is less than 603.

Was also wondering about that comment.

Add rider and luggage to the weight and the gap increases.

that is what the article said. also made me wonder, perhaps it took RWHP into account. I have read a few articles from different magazines and they have been using rear wheel power from dyno results. so, if the fuel tanks are similar in size, the 1190 curb weight is only 3kg more than 1090R? I doubt that

initial articles reported a 12 pound difference in weight. I am guessing if you put the centre stand back its very close to the 3kg

Why would you doubt that? It's basically the same frame, same block, same tank, same swingarm, same wheels....Same everything. All the parts from an 1190 fit directly onto a 1090: Skidplate, crashbars, plastics, tank etc.

The "weight saving" is only because of things that the 1090R is missing from the 1190R....Centre stand, tyre pressure monitoring and ABS bits.     THIS IS WHY I KEEP SAYING IT ISN'T LIGHTER!!! :laughing4: :laughing4:

I think once the CAT is removed, and you ceramic coat the in-and outside of the headers + plus add heat deflectors, should be sorted. Perhaps the ceramic coat gives some other advantage as well..some say so, even claim performance increase, but evidence says not really
