Bmw gs 1200 rallye center stand.
« on: July 20, 2018, 04:36:25 pm »
Not sure if there is thread on this. I am thinking of buying new rallye and they tell me all the ones sold they never fitted a center stand. Any advice on wether I do or don’t need stand.
Thanks.

I would not want my 1200 without a centrestand and if I bought a Rally I would fit one. :deal:
Cannot understand why it is not standard on the Rally.

Probably the same reason it was never fitted to the HP2.

I am sure it can be retrofitted on the Rally. On the HP2 it was simply weight saving and superfluous - also no easy place to fit it without it getting in the way. Never really missed it - a good pop up or hydraulic stand works just fine for servicing and removing wheels, as does a paddock stand. Tyres are tubeless so also not such an issue.

I fitted one to my Rallye, just cant get used to a boxer leaning to one side for extended time. If it stood for a couple weeks it would smoke quite a lot when first started up. No more with center stand.Takes 15 min to fit but quite a bit of bad language involved :patch:

we have bought in Snap Jack for some time now, and it has proved great for bikes WITHOUT a center-stand, but those with dual swing arm...
https://www.facebook.com/wildwoodtours/videos/1691973080913845/

...for the bikes with a SINGLE SIDED SWING-ARM, Snap Jack has now developed a SINGLE-SIDES Snap Jack solution, see video: https://youtu.be/t0s5Ebus60k

We have a couple on order, as well as another 20 Snap Jacks; these typically take around 6 - 8 weeks to get to us, and we do not yet know the price, but the 'regular' Snap Jack currently sells for R995, incl vat, will post prices here when product received...

its best suited to tubeless repairs, chain maintenance, cleaning, yada yada...

Cheers

A center stand is very handy, but I don't see it as a requirement.  If you have one, or can lay your hands on one at a reasonable price, fit one.  If not, it is not the end of the world.

Have you sold the Adv centre stand? If not please advise price you're asking?
