Looking for some green.....no, not the bad kind
« on: February 14, 2019, 11:07:54 am »
Polokwane has not received rain for a while and everything is dry around here.
I heard from a friend that Magoebaskloof area had some rain recently and yesterday I decided to ride in that general direction to see what green grass and trees actually look like.
Arrived a the Houtbosdorp turn off and couldn't resist the call of the dirt road.

There were signs of some serious amounts of water that flowed next to the road

You Sir, are a braver soul than me.

I would hesitate to take on those wet bosbou paaidjies with a bakkie.

I must admit that some sections were very slippery and I was extra careful being on my own

Found some art work along the way (must be an on-going project if the seat of the artist is still attached to the tree)

The clouds were gathering in the sky so I decided to make a run for the tar
Reached the tar with no broken bones and no damage to the bike
I rode for about 10km in a light drizzle before reaching home but it was worth it

I recall driving these roads (in a slightly wetter condition) with my Grand Vitara when it was brand new. It was slippery as snot! The car would suddenly start sliding and could only be saved by keeping a steady throttle and aiming the front wheels in the direction of the slide! I have never been more thankful for 4x4 in my life!

Ja, ek mis my F800 se rygerief op die ooppad maar die XTZ is soveel meer gemaklik en hanteerbaar (vir my) op die grond
