Ride Recomendations-Gauteng Based

What would you recommend for 1) a day trip 2) afternoon trip, if you're based in Gauteng?  Friend of mine recently got a bike, and I've done long trips but want to take him on an afternoon trip  so he can familiarize himself with his bike....  Any route suggestions? We're based in Centurion...
We should by all means be open minded,
But not to the extent that our brains fall out.

Tar or dirt?

There are loads.  The road along the mountains from Skeerpoort/Harties to Hekpoort/Magalies is very chilled. Can be done quick in the morning.

The dirt roads out to Val are very lekker.

There's a cheeky little route around Lanseria/Hennops area, bit of everything, dirt rds, 2 track paths, water crossing etc.
