Rear brake pads Suzuki DR650 . Himeville/Port St Johns/Kokstad
« on: January 30, 2020, 06:18:20 pm »
We’re on route from Coffee Bay to Himeville over the next two days and one of our crew has worn out the rear pads on his Suzuki DR650.
Any ideas of where to get new or secondhand.  Not ideal doing Lesotho without rear brakes.

There is small Yamaha dealership in Himevile - as in official dealership. Not sure if DR brake pads are special, but worth a try.

Their contact is May's Auto Centre, 033 702 1356.

Guys we are now desperate.
Traveling from Coffee Bay to Mbotyi today and then to Himeville via Kokstad tomorrow.
If someone has a DR650  we’ll buy your old pads and replace with a new set.
REAR PADS

I think they may be the same as KDX200 pads

They do not seem to be in Himeville yet, and I think that may only be Yamaha marine?  But then why marine in Himeville, unless there is lots of water nearby?

Where are you going still that having a rear brake is so critical?

Most bikes ' brake pads are "special". ;) . It is certainly not a one-part-fits-all-bikes story.

And sorry about being wrong with the Yamaha dealer.

Thanks for the generous offer Spectator.
Doing passes like Mabeleng, OngeluksNek, Old Mill,, Sani etc with no rear brakes on a loaded DR  is not a great idea for an inexperienced pilot.
The response from WDogs has bee been fantastic and testament to our shared passion in bikes and adventure.

Thanks for your generous offer.  The rest of the ride was definitely much easier for the DR rider with proper brakes at both ends.  For me brake pads were not so much the problem, I more needed a John Deere tractor.

They needed the pads that day because on the Monday they were going to be in Lesotho, I managed to take a ride and meet up with them and give them ones with about half their life left. Just the timing of the weekend was poor to get them replaced.
