When it cones to lube on a chain, I use whatever I have at the moment.. from Castrol chain wax to old car oil. I even use Q20 and DWF.. honestly after riding bikes for years i cant say that one has increased the use of the chain over another, I've even had a scott oiler at one stage.

I have been riding with guys who never lube their chain.. ever, and they swear by it.

Different strokes for different folks

I seem to have done OK over a number of years scoring enough chain lube to keep me going from lucky draws.  ;D

Otherwise ever since the bad old days before O rings when chain maintenance was a pain, nowadays as Fuzzy says the 'best' is whatever you think is best.
Succumb not to the erosion of those born of unconsecrated union.

Still Here - amazed and lucky.

Agreed with Fuzzy and Jay.  Whatever you think is best, is best.  You cannot do anything for the health of your chain because modern o-ring chains look after themselves.  You need something between the chain and the sprocket as that is steel on steel and almost any oil/wax will work.  Find one you like.  Oh, I preferred wax purely because there is less spatter.

If you read the instructions on a new DID chain they recommend 80w90 gear oil.
Cheap - works for me.

The best chain oil in fact is chainsaw oil, designed to stick... and splatter...

Over the years I have found the wax type the best of both worlds. :sip:
