Show us your "OFF"
« on: November 24, 2008, 03:22:25 pm »
The only criteria - The rider must have walked away or had a good laugh. Nothing grusome!

This is the sequence of my attempt at digging a 'sloot' with my helmet peak at this year's GSC skills challenge.

Here we go SillyStunt - have a good laugh AGAIN!
The conundrum that is life...
You have to be absolutely smashed to have the guts to attempt it,
But perfectly sober to achieve any success!

Riding in the dunes near Cape Town. I tried to show off for the camera and ended up losing the rear end.
1st left-hand slide (full counter lock on the handlebars), then right with the leg out and finally down!

Nie 'n enkele een nie! Ek het al so baie geval ek tel nie eers meer nie, maar het nog al my oorspronklikke flikkers.
Meskien is ek net gelukkig. Die crash bars is egter 'n must have.

'n KLR is taaier as wat mense dink. :-[

This "off" happened in the urban jungle and I'm not sure if it meets the criteria but since I learnt  such a good lesson I'd like to share it.

The guys I ride with kept on telling me "all the gear all the time" but I was hardegat and now I see.

Riding along Beach Rd in Green Point on a Sunday afternoon a car unexpectedly turned in front of me.
I found out afterwards that the driver had been drinking.

#1 This is more or less where I hit the back of the car. I was already in a right-hand sideways skid at this stage. The rear wheel hit the car so hard the axel shifted on the swing arm.

#2 This is where the rear wheel hit the pavement. After hitting the car I careered off into a left-hand skid.

#3 This is where I finally came down and scraped along the pavement comming to a standstill just behind/next to a parked car.

It happened so quick. I wish I could say I drew upon my skill but to say the truth the bike skidded totally out of control.
I got away lightly.

The sand monster attacked me on our way to Gannagapas in the Tankwa Karoo. We took a detour through a private game farm and encounter this piece of dry riverbed.

I was not the only one though, minutes after me the photographer also had a soft landing.
