Some friends in the infamous Eselbankgat. I laughed so hard I nearly shat myself. :imaposer:

It's not often you get two falls in one shot.

Brilliant!

So I take the wife to cedarberg on my dads 1200 gs with those crappy standard tyres that are not good for anything more than going down the gravel in your driveway. We get warned about eselbank at Oasis. So loaded with 3 bmw boxes extended and tents sleeping gear and 3 bottels wyn, we hit eselbank!! I still don't know how but we made it through no crashes, but tank slapper of note!! I started doubting myself until I now C others also had moments at the sand pad to hell.

Today in the Grabouw area (no damage):

and from the other side:

I was so windgat as not to stop first and see what my options are ...
There was an easy way around to the left, which Alec took.

This was not an Off, just drinking water from the little mountain stream  :) :

My brand new 1200 GS Adventure. In the middle of Lesotho all alone!!
Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. (Suzuki GT750, Suzuki 1100 GSX, BMW1100, 1150GSA, 1200GSA)

No pics or memories of the off itself but here is the aftermath, lesson learnt! always dbl check your helmet is strapped on properly  :deal:

I got kak lucky to understate it!

apparently I got a tank slap and hit the tar at 140 (I still think that's bullshit, but hey) the cock up was the helmet was new to me, never had one with a double D type strap and it wasn't on properly. Hit the ground helmet came off, fractured eye socket with a mean ass concussion and allot of skin gone.

In retro sect it has calmed me down allot in some ways and just overall has made me be less of a stupid twat on the road, as well as the bike related changes there have been way more positive sides to the whole thing than negative.

I stopped biting my nails for the first time in my life and my hey fever is better than it has ever been, to the point where its almost gone..... strange how things work lol  :patch:

All in all im glad it happened the way it did, I needed to catch a wake up call and I got lucky enough to live through it with only a minor scan on my nose and under my eyebrow
So much of win it hurts! ^.^
