Camel toes at Fossil Rock
« on: December 14, 2008, 08:42:04 pm »
Myself and Francois, my French neighbor rode out to a place called Fossil rock. One has to be careful not to connect with a camel here. Apparently you can even buy "camel insurance" ;D

damn that looks like a nice "hot" place to play
There are no short cuts to anywhere worth going!
Performance is paramount, niceties only exist if it doesn't affect performance.

Don't rush it, it's helmet time you need, not a destination. Take it easy.

The daytime weather is wonderful at the moment, temperature stays around 25 degrees C. The nights are getting cold though it drops all the way to about 17 degrees, brrrrrrr...

Are you allowed to ride anywhere in the desert? - are any areas protected, or due you just turn off the tar and ride?
There is nothing you can do about the past and you can't predict the future...all you have is the now...live it to the fullest.

If there are any protected areas I haven't found them yet - I'm lying, we had to circumnavigate a military base the other day ;D
We've been doing exactly that, turning off the tar and just going.

Ratel, first off, your bike. please stop posting your ride reports - i have to clean the drool off my keyboard each time...

then i see you got yourself a pair of icon gloves - which ones are they and how do you find riding offroad with them?

He-he ;D As they say: "watch this space" :mwink:

I bought the gloves at Yamaha in Centurion for about R500 if I remember. Honestly the best and most comfortable gloves I have owned. After nearly 2 years they are still good to go, no loose stitching or any other problems. I especially like the fact that they are beefy enough for road use and cool, comfortable enough for off road use. They are called "Super Duty"

Hi there Ratel.

Have you done any other rides round the UAE? There is a group of us that run arround on smaller 450`s. We generally do the Triangle. Army base to Cattle Grid to Fossil rock and Back. Some times we do Al Ain to Fossil rock and then the Bab Al Shams to to Fossil rock and Back.

I am trying to expand the distances to get in excess of 150km Trips.

PLease let me know if you have any exciting routes!
