Midlands Morning
« on: October 25, 2021, 11:09:46 am »
Saturday morning had nothing planned and it was a beautiful sunny day, so I decided to take the 500 exploring in the hills behind Midmar Dam, quite close to where I live.

No exciting story here, just some pics I snapped along the way
How can I be lost if I've got nowhere to go?

No fences were cut, lifted or squashed and no gates opened or removed, but I am 100% sure I was on private property

Didn't see a single sign of farming going on, just a couple of oribi on a distant hill as well as some beautiful blue cranes, but too far away to get a decent pic on my crappy cell phone

After a couple of hours of not seeing a solitary soul it was time to head back down this steep rocky track into the plantations and back home to Hilton.

Great day for riding on Saturday Jon. We rode to Colenso and did a loop around the valleys there with our camp spot at Zingela booked for the night. Got up to 38 degrees!!
Great fun though

Beautiful countryside and nice pics, Jon.

You were probably just out of the farmer's shotgun range.

Thanks Frank  :thumleft:

I had a beady eye out for farmers approaching with shotguns      But I had my "sorry I did not know this was private land" excuse at the ready.

But as I said above I was in no doubt this was someones private farm.

This is the Google Earth image of some of the area that I had previously looked at, anyone spot a cow?
