CS,the GS range are wonderful bikes,but remember only 10% good dirt.You could so easily be like
one of those 2-wheel drive bakkie owners damaging his vehicle trying desperately to go where
4-wheeldrives go with ease.

Also what does 10% good dirt mean? You just made that up...

Statistics are worth nothing if not connected to some reference standard....

You surely don't believe that a 230kg bike was ever meant for anything but good dirt roads,without a degree of
machine abuse,do you?If you want to you can take 5 Vespa scooters down the Fishriver canyon,they'll be
sat after that,but you can say that it was done.Good dirt roads eg.Swartberg pass,Baviaans still possible,
but anything worse=machine abuse.Enjoy your touring.

This time i agree with you 100%.....

Dual purpose bikes are meant for Tar and Gravel..... those are both roads...

GS means Tar and Gravel in German.... note those are also both roads....

So whats the point here.....

Want to go offroad its not Dual Sporting anymore.... you go for enduro or MX.

Don't take this the wrong way, you sound like a bit of a "sour proes straat pretoria" I hate BMW person who cannot accept that perhaps for a dual purose bike, it is actually that good!

Swartberg pass? Thats good gravel.

I agree that Baviaans / Cederberg Oasis to Wuppertal / Attakwas kloof (not pass) should be the limit of most big DS bikes. After that you need a more focussed machine.

Not that those bikes can't do it. But it's not ideal.
