Overberg ride Sunday 06/12
« on: December 07, 2009, 06:37:45 pm »
What a lekker ride.
Some of those routes through the forest on the quad paths were cool.
Other than the Highlands road  and The Houhoek Pass road , the roads were all new to me.
Leftless took a tumble when his left arm unclipped from the bars and he hit a rut.Other than the wind out of his sails , he was ok.
The bikes mirror broke off.
Michiel tried a very steep , rocky fire brake and got a lot higher than we thought he would and got down safely.
As Rov ses , we didnt get too many pics , but here are a few.

And Michiel always looking for the hard way up

Who were all in the group? I think I recognise ROVRAT and Durtseeker.
Let's go into the mountains...there's likely to be peace and quiet

What a lovely place we live in!!! I hope everyone else also enjoyed the beauty of the mountains as much as I did.

Thanks to all that came along on the ride.

The ride was not the hardest by far. But as a couple of people saw you have to stay focused or you will have a little lie down!  :pot:

I didn't take to many pics. SORRY!

This red monster bike was chasing me most of the ride! If I was going a little fast every now and then sorry. I was scared!! This pic is to show that even very good riders can navigate off the road sometimes!!  :peepwall:
I want that bike!!

Rovrat, thank you for an enjoyable ride, my friend and I had to leave you at Dassiesfontein. The Kromco track was beautiful and new to us.
I almost put my foot in it, walked up to the group standing around "leftless" and was about to ask what that tool was that he"s using on his
bike, when I noticed that it is attached to his arm! Then I saw the ball on the left hadlebar. All I can say is;WOW Leftless!!!!!!
As ek jy was sou ek nie so gelyk het nie.

Now I'm even more upset that I couldn't make it.

Damn it looks like it was lekker!

02/02/12 - RIP Glen - the Arrow of Elliot and the little man with the big heart that truly was larger than life.

You have touched us and left us better for having known you - even if it was only briefly.

For grabbing the moment and living the day It's been way too early that you were taken away

Thanks so much for organising R-O-V-Rat!! A stunning ride with awesome tracks :thumleft: There was a bit of everything on the route... sand, rocks, ruts, 'marbles', mirror-devouring bushes... First time I got to explore this area, and loved it.

Also thanks to all the guys that helped me out along the way... BigH waited at a section when he realised there was a strong possibility he'd have to scrape me off the road after riding through a sandy ditch... thankfully though that was not necessary. Kreef for helping me pick up my bike when I dropped it in the first 5 mins (nerves were a lot settled after that )... and also for picking up my mirror after it was taken out by a roadside bush... The price you got to pay for fun, definitely worth it... 007, good riding through to Peregrine & back with you... lucky neither of us taken out by obstinate hubcaps or the like...

Would love to head on that way again!! Beautiful!!!  :ricky: :ricky:

R-O-V-Rat, ou had to show that picture now didn't you?! I was only take a closer look at some of the fynbos, appreciating nature and all of that!

2T-Dan, you and Gideon should have stayed, the second half of the ride was definately worth it.

Thanks R-O-V-Rat, I enjoyed myself and slept like a baby Sunday night!

Thanks to ROV for a fantasic ride. I am almost sorry I did not do the last bit of the ride but a lekker car free ride from Grabouw to Franschoek and a huge party makes up for that.

ROV I will be in Hermanus on this coming weekend, let hook for a beer and/or a ride. Please pm your cell no.

Hope to see you all on another ride soon.

Mikey950 and myself have done a lot of rides up there - even named one of the hills. There are a couple of waterfalls there too if you can find them. In theory you should be ably to get right through to franchoek.

..ha! howz about that! my first post on the 'dogs!
