Jeesh, Williaby, glad you OK man!  Sorry to hear about the bike.  Just thinking of that bend with oil makes me pucker!  Hope the bruises and the damaged wallet heal fast!

Yeah. That is the last thing you want to see on a bend like that....

At least the oily road helped me slide a bit better. Mostly on the back with a delicate little flop onto my stomach at the end.

Very impressed with my gear. Citi pants dirty but not even worn through at all.

and sommer change your insurance co as well.. i recently found out my excess in case of an accident was well in the region of 10k, so i promptly found different insurance for my bike.

Sorry to go a bit O.T. but anyone know which insurance co. is the way to go these days??  ???

I've been with the 'yellow umbrella' okes for many years now, but recently got new quotes for the Tiger, only to find out there are much cheaper short term insurance co.'s out there.

I've got 2 bikes insured & together with the 2 cars, house, etc. this adding up to be quite a packet each month!  :-\

i dont want to hijack this thread, but there is always a price to pay for cheaper insurance rates = higher excess, list of exclusions etc. Read your schedule carefully then make an informed decision.

Try Outsurance or BMW. When I was looking my best quotes were from them...

I am with Outsurance and am very impressed so far. With them you can choose different levels of excess vs premium so you can tailor your insurance to suit your pocket depending on your personal risk appetite.

I went the lower premium but high excess route as that was what was right for me at the time.

Jeez Williaby, glad ur ok!

I came around there at about 19h00, thought I was to much on the gas, as the rear wheel was trying to overtake the front.
Got home and found out there was an oil spill there, what farks me off is that the useless metro or road agencies will do farkall to warn or prevent things like that from happening. :dousing:
Just wonder how many accidents there was after the rain last night.

Hope everything works out for you!!

There were two tow trucks there and the one guys was saying he had asked the other if they should let the road agency know and apparently he had replied "No, let's just sit and wait and we might pick up a few customers."

He did subsequently let them know and they arrived to check it out but wasn't around to see if they did anything about it or not. Obviously not much if it wasn't blocked off or anything when you came by at 19:00. They really needed to close the lane and sort it out.....

That would have been the logic to an 'normal person' but then.....
There was no warning to any of the motorists approaching.

Just got the quote from BMW  :deal:

R34 5000  :o

I reckon the insurers might just fix it. How does it work from here? Do they give you the $ and then you pay BMW or what?

If thats the way they do it then I may look at an aftermarket handlebar, barkbusters, etc. rather than the OEM stuff.
