Boer, what did this guy do to the bike?? Doesn't look like anything too drastic, but farging hell, he bent a lot of parts....
Above the planet on a wing and a prayer,
My grubby halo, a vapour trail in the empty air
Across the clouds I see my shadow fly
Out of the corner of my watering eye
A dream unthreatened by the morning light Could blow this soul right through the roof of the night Tongue tied and twisted just an earth bound misfit. I

It's them thar damn foreigners I tell ya!

OK, my excuse is that I'm working night-shift - and it's a slow one... What's yours for being up at this strange hour?

Nice ongoing repairs, well done! Will you be willing to share the final cost, and also how difficult it is to get a repaired Code 3 back on the road w.r.t. licensing and other legal matters...?

Yes, final cost so far is R100 000.   :peepwall:

WRT licensing etc. I still have to do that, but thats for next year.  Will let you know what PITA it is.

The remainder of the stuff I estimate at about R10k - R12k.
That is Powercommander, aftermarket slip on, cat removal and header pipe refit, airhawk seat etc.  Some of the stuff on the new bike, I took of the blue GS in the last photos, but they are included in the cost.

Phew... Not doing it for much of a saving then, more like a labour of love? Of course, you now fully "own" and know the bike much better than with a showroom model. :)

Nice work, wish I could make the time (and have the talent).

Hope not too much pain for the licensing - you've put too much effort into this to be waylaid by administration.

New 30 year anniversary model goes for R165 000 standard. Add estimated R50 - R60k worth of extras, and I believe I saved plenty.

I will do a customized rebuild like this again any day.  :mwink:

Farking mosquitoes chowed me awake!

Really nice rebuild Boer.

With all the extras, R120k all in, still a significant saving off the Retail price list.

What's the story behind the early crash - the motor hasn't even been run in?
I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy
