Another awesome day in Africa
« on: June 16, 2011, 11:24:59 pm »
Went for a ride to smitskraal today.
214, Tyger, Owen, Byron and Marylynn in 214's Landrover.
Me on the KLR.

The roads closed because it's been washed away in places, but we managed to convince the dude that we just wanted to look.

Had a great ride through, no other people where seen.
Some nice technical sections.
Smitskraal was nice and deep again flowing with a nice strong current to make life interesting

Had to clear a few trees along the way. On the way back a new one had dropped across the road, blocking it completely, not even the bike could get past.

Left home at 8h30, returned just after 9pm. what an eventful day.

Will post some more pics and maybe video later.

No, he actually put a long range tank on the Husky during the week.
But he is enjoying the Landy a lot as well.
And yes the river was flowing quite strong. got pushed sideways at sections, and was tricky going against the flow in places as the water splashes quite high as if you're riding too fast

No, keep going strong, did the return ride as well with no problems.
The flow pushed up the water in front but it was ok at the intake

Respect for the KLR. Then again, what is a KLR (or any other bike) without someone who can twist its ear properly?
