It Speaks ....Realy I'm Certain
« on: May 18, 2007, 10:18:02 am »
It might seem strange to someone that is not a biker, and even for some ?bikers? ? but I can feel my grunter?s moods and hear its inclination.

This usually starts the moment I swing my leg over and hit the start button.  Some mornings I can hear its voice yearning to be bullied, ridden hard and fast, on others, like today, it wants to be cruised with smooth gear changes and no blipping downshifts.  When it is in this mood riding hard and fast seems to be a real effort, even standing does'nt feel right

Am I going mad or are other WD?s also experiencing this deep bond?

PS: I'm also convinced it is more pertinent to beemers than others???

Proof reading my post after typing, I'm sure I've opened myself up for all sorts of witticism

GS, i hear you.

My bike is full of sh*t when it does kt get a good run.
This morning it groaned big time and did not want to switch ABS on. After a quick chat in the driveway and a promise of a decent off-road ride this weekend, the servo's took over, the heated grips warmed up and Gusto flew down the street on the way to work.

Now i must fulfill the promise
I'm not a complete idiot, some parts are missing!

Hey what do you meen it might be strage, I agree with you 100%.

When I went to go have a look at the 1150Adv I bought, I could have sworn I heard a voice saying" hey buddy we belong together, what do you think", so I bought it, and what a bike :reindeer:

You guys are sounding like a bunch of women  :D

Nope, can't say I do....My bike feels, looks and sounds the same
every time I get on, and thank heavens for that.

What I don't need is a bike with moods....I have enough problems
keeping him under control as it is.

See it proves it, Women do not have that mechanical empathy and feeling for all things mechanical and motorised objects of desire (well other than those battery torpedoes).

And the only reference to "him" is to KEEP HIM UNDER CONTROL, such a girl trait!!!!

Ya its a failing, but the sensitive ones aren,t much good to you either, they all bat for the same side.

And the Bke is so much less moody should it be left waiting outside the pub for an hour or two.

I feel the same and i also thought i was the only one.

Sometimes the big single, feels stiff and lazy. Thats when it wants to cruise. By cruising i mean 80km/h.

Other days i start her up and she runs nice and smooth. Throttle more sensitive than usual. Everything works well. Excellerates smootly right to the top speed.

I get the same from my cage.

Machines have souls.

I'm an instrument technician i know. If you treat a machine like you treat a lady on a first date it usually treats you with the same amount of care, respect and love.

One thing i did notice is never talk behind your baby's back, she'll come back and kick you in the arse. :D

GS-Holic you are not alone.

Oh believe me, I'm very in touch with my machine, coz if I'm not,
it means that we're both lying flat on the ground not touching.

Actually, the BMW senses your mood, more so than it actually being in a mood. When you fire it up, whack the throttle a couple of times, that little engine management system thinks, ah, today we're in for a bit of fun.

Then, on a cold day when the Ducatisti are safetly tucked up in their winter woolies, the big German growls out of the neighbourhood. As you get onto the road, you wind open the throttle and the big boxer just chews off huge blocks of ice cold air and forces it into the motor, before blowing it out the exhaust in abundant torque.

Yes, I love the BOXER!

The Strom, well that's just like a jack russel on speed, running around your ankles at 1000 miles and hour. The 650 twin is just a grin a second and simply relishes an owner that enjoys burning energy on a ride.

Yes, they all have personalities.
