Never got around to post this ride of mine. Friday afternoon and I decided some riding would be a great way to kick off the weekend  :D As usual I headed of to the east of PTA looking for some maplotter roads.

Riding along the Boschkop road I came across this gumboot used as a sign, only in Africa  :lol:



Riding towards the Mooiplaats turnoff I kept my eyes open for some tracks to explore and came across this one to my left.



Unfortunetly it ended at a locked gate but it was worth a try, there are some nice trails running into the hills but I think they are all situated on some farms although there are no gates. I arrived at the turnoff and the Z was ready and willing to ride some dirt !



The road was scraped recently and it was almost as good as a tar road, a bit boring but hey what can you do  :?



Just before the trail that Journeyman and co. did I found a little trail running into the veld ....

Which turned into a fun little singletrack ...





Some of the scenery around Mooiplaats, man it seems the sun has permanently left Gauteng !



After a couple of km's the trail ended before a farmers gate so I turned around and headed back to the main trail and took another picture at the top before the T junction takes you to Donkerhoek.



One last pic before I took the old Bronkhorstpruit road back to PTA.



A fun ride but I'm getting tired of these roads, soon I'm heading east and I'm not talking about PTA east. Mpumalanga here I come  :study:  :thumbright:

That ride of yours is sooooo sweet...Cant wait to see it in living colour this weekend.

We had some nice dirt near where i live.. but it's all being ripped apart by townhouse developers.

I started on that trails when I got my DRZ, so I've been riding them on and off for almost two years now  :roll: Still want to explore De Wildt some more and Mpumalanga.

The lights are shelved for now at least, my Suzuki now sports a KTM headlight :? Had clearance issues on the big lights  :evil:

Nice pics as usual DD.....

I have done that exact route before. I think JM and BLA also joined on it once. If you follow the Lynwood road further down, there are other routes to be enjoyed out towards Bronkhorstspruit Dam area....

We can chat on Saturday and do some of the routes sometime....

I once rode on untill the Lynwood road ended took a right and another left I think and came across some great wide open dirt roads, it was winter though so it was very dusty. I can remember crossing a little river too (Osriver I think  :scratch: ), only took one pic on the bridge with the cellphone. Well worth exploring again.

Yeah, that is the area I am talking about.....

You can travel all the way to Bronkhorspruit Dam and then a bit more tar and some 30 to 50 more km's of dirt all within an hour or so of PTA

 :lol:  :lol:

There are also some really nice dirt roads along the railway line to follow in that area. I haven't tried them yet, but have seen a lot of quads on those roads
