The racial issue is up our noses all the time through the press and media, I am not surprised that it comes out here too.

I can honestly say that a place like Lesotho has changed my general thinking and attitude in some way, over the years.  I have been going there for ever, and have some friends there.  Wherever I have been, I have tried to shop where the locals shop, eat where they eat and hang out where they hang out.  This goes for America, Europe, Zambia, Namibia, Moz and Lesotho, etc etc.  One thing I have learnt, is that we always tend to want to change our situation and environment, but WE are not always prepared to change.  I regret not having taken enough pictures.  The ones I posted bring good memories, and that is all.  And they perfectly fit into a little bit of the bigger picture of who I am.  That's all.  Let us not allow any issues to kill the spirit of the thread.

Well spoken  :thumright:

Can we post some more pics please people!

Chill okes,
Most of these pics are awsome, the stuff good memories are made of, one thought, if you take pics on your regular routes, Dewildt etc, why not run a few prints and give them a copy or two when you pass that way again. Trust me, you think they smiled when you took it,,,,, you ain't seen nothing.
I did it on way to Sodwana, when I took a copy a few months later, one of the kids in the picture had been killed in an accident, his folks didn't have a single picture to remember him, I went off the beaten track, followed some guys to the village and gave the print to his mom, had tea and left a very emotional family behind. I wasn't feeling to lekker either. Just an idea that worked for me.

cheers

Nee, ek het nooit geclaim dis my werk nie!

As ek reg onthou, is sy 'n fotografiese lektor by die Kaapse Technicon.

Dit bly in my oë 'n baie besonderse foto!

I love this thread and the comments it generates.  These are the issues we need to discuss and debate in SA.  Nothing wrong with both sides of the coin imho (even if the thread was started harmlessly).  Fact is, is Africa becoming a 'human zoo' for foreign (and local) travellers - and if so, are they allowed to take pictures.

Beemer Man, although I respect your comment about LS, I fail to see the connection between your pic and his response?

On the other hand, we can't claim to embrace the diversity of our continent's people, but would not allow a diverse view from forum members about this thread and how it is viewed.  Charity begins at home - even standing in a line...  Nardus I know you didn't mean to open a Pandora's box, but in a weird sense I find it refreshing and positive to touch on these issues while building this fine thread - well done to you sir; and with your permission, can we allow positive debate regarding these real issues without hijacking this thread?

The level of rhetoric and insight on this forum amazes me.

My contribution - We found Piet Skiet - he said he needed a vacation after being 5years  unemployed due to restructuring, I couldn't agree more - hard work this unemployed thing....

Here is an snippet from a review I posted, and thought that this bit does belong here:

A fellow BMW rider, check the badge on the front fork. I not recognize the model but it may be a custom build. The locals came to look at the bikes; they were drooling over the BMW, but all our attempts to impress upon them that the KTM is the faster bike was met with a dismissive ??Ohh.. OK?. The chap with his BMW bicycle was eying my bike with a big smile and I told him ??but you also ride a BMW, his face quickly dropped and he said softly ??but, mine is a bit slow?? priceless.
Never underestimate the stopping power of a tree!
