Ama ride ride
Grey Hound
Finally I bought a memory card reader to download long lost pics.....
February this year I flew down to CTN to fetch my scooter and so ending a phase of my live.
Du Toitskloof pass...Looking back at my old hometown - Paarl
The mountain on the far right background - Paarde berg. My dad's wine farm was there
I decided to take tar to Sutherland and then gravel onwards. Stopped at Touwsrivier to full up
and took a pic of this oke who tried to hitch a ride.
.
The Karoo is my favorite place in SA.....I just love the emptyness
In the Karoo it does not matter where the road end.....just follow it.
February can be hot....My trusty steed taking a breather in the shade.
Nearing Sutherland
This little kloof will never become a Fish river Canyon...but it will keep on trying for eons to come
I never liked Sutherland much but the roads to and fro are some of the best. Did not stop and went on to Fraserburg
Outside town. like a stuff nipple the SALT telescope (deepspace) keep a lookout on things
Locked gate.....
But the start of the gravel....
Karoo highway....far better than the N1
Neverending gravel road....what more does one want?
Stopped for some water......its a dry but beautiful place
The gravel keep on changing color and texture...from gray
to red....
Fraserburg come and went.....so did Loxton. I had 30 litres of fuel with me. So there was no need to stop in the towns.
Stopped somewhere....just for the sake to stop
My two favorite features og my bike...
The left nipple
...and the right nipple.....
...empty tar road coming from nowhere...going to nowhere
Some more pics somewhere in the Karoo...
The roads I love
Then I hit the town of Victoria West.....with its famous landmark
Sadly.....my cameras batteries died when I stopped again for a pic....and I am afraid getting shot for posting a ride report without pics......So I will redo the trip sometime in the future to get the pics to add to the report.....
My name is Ama ride ride and I love the Karoo.....
