690 e speedo
« on: May 11, 2012, 05:54:26 pm »
Hi,

The speedo on my 690 is working intermittedly where part of it goes blank from time to time - speed, heat guage and distance meter.

I opened it and it was working for a while, but now it is doing it again.

Does someone else struggle with a similar problem or know if there was a technical recall?

Thanks

same problem, but it has not bothered me that much. I change gears when the limiter kicks in and focus on the road.  :ricky: will report it on my next service and see what they can do

I don't worry about the speed or gears - just about the kilometers. If it stops working completely how will i know when to service it.  :P

Exactly the same problem here, it seems to fade on certain section and the next moment it is fine again. specially on long trips of 100k plus.

Please keep me posted on problem.

KTM centurion took pictures and vin no. Said they will contact KTM in austria and find out about replacement.

I hope they will replace it - seems to be a problem on most 690s

Good to hear. Thanks for the feedback.

Now it is up to KTM CT to help our CT guys. Hopefully they will be able to help me.

Thanks again.

My 690 was dropped off at KTM CT on saterday for this speedo problem.
Hopefully they will be able to show that they can be as good as the other KTM branches, and sort this out for me with KTM Austria....

Will keep you posted.
PS. Apparently this week alone there is about 3 bikes with them for the same problem. Don't know if it is only 690's or not.

Went to fetch my bike from KTM CT today, and they are waiting on feedback from KTM HQ. Hopefully not too long now.

Good to know I'm not the only one having this issue. Trying to get rid of the clocks all together. Will post here if I find a replacement like the Trail Tech Vector, or maybe just one ICO, with some warning lights directely wired to the harness.

Hey Camelman : take your bike to KTM CT they will sort you out. This a common problem on the ktm's.

Just received a mail with confirmation that my speedo has arrived  :ricky:
Now just for them to fit it, then hopefully problem solved.
Apparently they also put your current kilometer reading on the new clock. Which I preferr.

Will keep you posted.
