    Biker down on M3 Tokai

I commute along that exact stretch of on-ramp daily. Went past on the day a few minutes after the accident and got a helluva fright. My son goes that way by bike as well and had left home a little while before me. You have no idea how I shat myself until I saw that it was not his bike. There's...

    Funduro alternator

So I waited before posting this to be sure it worked. Original BMW stator quoted at just over R8k. Google found me a perfectly good brand new Yamaha stator that fits imported from the USA in one week from order to delivery for R 1400 including shippping and duties. Its fitted and works and the...

    Funduro alternator

My 1999 F 650 Funduro is very ill. The bolts holding the alternator assembly together (8 of them, I think, inside the right hand side engine cover) sheared off, and the bolt heads shredded the alternator stator, damaged the hub, and sprag clutch, and generally ran riot and misbehaved...

How many dogs use their bikes daily for commuting and what do you use?

I use my  '99 F650 Funduro daily. 45 km round trip. Just be careful. Very careful.

    Atlantic Motorrad............

When I started riding Shane helped me set up my bike (I has to put a rekluse clutch in it as I have have fingers only on the left side). He was absolutely fantastic, getting that sorted and with everything else. I sucked up the high prices simply to get the excellent service. When he left I...

    What's the ultimate commuter?

IMHO the ultimate commuter is just about any DS bike in the 600 - 650 cc range. Enough grunt (just) for the freeway, light, inexpensive to run etc etc. My '99 Funduro just keeps on going doing a 50km round trip 5 days a week, 52 weeks a year..and it is capable enough for me off-road.

    Recommended Flip Lip Helmets?

I have been commuting on a virtually daily basis for four years with a Nitro F 347. Affordable and no problems so far. Best of all is the inbuilt dark visor which you can flip down in the sunshine.

My second trip on two wheels!

Oh kay, so the day we were to depart dawned black and rainy...luvly. But soon we had left Cape Town behind and once through the Hex River the rain stopped. Turned right at Laingsburg and swooped (if that is the word to describe the motion of my '99 Funduro...) down the Rooinek Pass (didn't see...
