I noticed mine as it started to go and wrapped that silicone tape (the kind that only sticks to itself) around it as a temporary measure until I could find a replacement boot. Now, about a year later, it's still going strong.

Don't forget to re-oil after cleaning.

They work! 

I think he is referring to the metal plates that go in between the friction plates in your pic. I had a similar problem on a DT175F when I was a lighty. Too many wheelies perhaps?

Yes, mine under reads by approx 0.2 or 0.3 bar.

Same choice I had to make, I went with the GS, but both are awesome bikes. Take both for a proper test ride and follow your heart. You can't go wrong with either.

Try Dolf in Kibler Park (not far from ACME), I think he may have one for you. Will be able to fit it as well and will be able to advise you on your old box.
