I know that for road using bikes one can get away with just getting road tax at the border for any vehicle on SA plates, valid for 3 months and renewable in Whk. This road tax is only renewable 3 or 4 times before they start asking questions though...
I lived in Nam for 2 years and didn't...
Ah man I am drooling over some those photos! Following with great interest and rooting for all the guys from a rainy New Zealand

Yeah the bike found a happy new owner, a vertically challenged member (bike already lowered) of the fairer sex seeking to explore the ADV biking world :thumleft:
As some training for when you do manage to do a course, maybe check out some of these vids:

I've been practicing some of the basics on my 400 and getting to the point...
I've been experimenting and practicing a bit lately. I started on the DT 175 from a standstill, dragging both feet and sitting as far back as i can just to get the feeling of the front wheel being in the air. After a while i progressed to trying to lift while moving and seated but still struggle...
I've been running MAxxis Cross IT on my 400 and am super impressed with the handling in any terain and the mileage. I have about 4000 km on the rear and they are not quite ready to quit yet. Will definitely buy another set.
Apparently the Desert IT is also a beast
Haven't been on a long trip in a while, but i do play around lots in my back yard. Doesn't look like the gnarliest terain ever on the photos, but definitely a challenge. These days i breeze over the sand. Hill climbs are still tricky, evidently :lol8:
