    Service

Agreed, keeping customers waiting is not good, but if all the staff are busy with other customers is that bad service, I don,t think so. If I go to a dealer and he does not have a basic commodity like a tube then yes I would be upset, it is all relative. When you go to a supermarket is it bad...

    Akrapovic silencer

Which is one of the reasons I am sure why a GS1200 with  Akra will run rings around a standard GS. Improved power delivery, less weight, improved cosmetics, nice sound without being raucous like some systems out there, attention to detail, etc,etc ... If you want it and can afford it then go...

    Service

I have seen dealers unfairly rated because someone was rattled by something and vented his fury on a forum, in his/her fury they made a mountain out of a molehill and blew things totally out of proportion. Now if they had contacted the dealer direct it may have had a happier ending. But the nett...

    Service

I think we have all been a victim of what we classify as bad service, myself included. I bumped into a mate as I was entering an accessory dealer, his advice was not to go in because there was no service, he had been in for a few minutes and no one had helped him. I ignored his advice and went...

    Akrapovic silencer

I have worked damn hard to get where I am and if I wish to go out and buy an Akro for my bike then so be it. By the sounds of things you are just downright jealous.

    KLR valve check?

Groenie to have to change shims at 34 000km is not bad going, I know of some bikes that need to have the cylinder heads removed at 20 000km to give the valves a refresh lapping in. This is not some obscure chinese brand but a reputable company with numerous world championships to its name.

    Akrapovic silencer

I happen to know the owner of a well known company who makes aftermarket exhaust pipes and let me assure you the craft cannot be compared to rocket science. A large company such as Akrapovic and Termignoni, etc. have access to great materials such as Titanium and Carbon Fibre. Just because they...

    KLR valve check?

It is very unusual to have incorrect valve clearances from the factory, but that does not mean it is impossible. If it gives you peace of mind then get it checked, no harm in that.

    KLR Bigger front sprocket

Go for 1 tooth bigger on the front, for a more comfortable highway ride it is the way to go. Actually it is better to go larger on the front than smaller on the rear, the chain has a larger radius to go around on the larger front sprocket which is better for chain durability.

    KLR Bigger front sprocket

Definitely a good idea, drops the rpm to more comfortable levels on the open road.

    Akrapovic silencer

But frankly, the technical benefits do not justify the price. Akrapovic is one system guaranteed to work on any bike, what you pay for is the R & D that goes into developing their systems. Is anyone aware of the time it takes to develop an exhaust system, start with a base system, add 5mm here...

    Cage Drivers & Bikes

My logic is very simple , I treat other road users as though they are all out to kill me, the other thing is to look ahead and judge the traffic from a distance rather than looking directly in front of the bike. The more advance warning you have as a rider/driver the more time you have to react...

    Cage Drivers & Bikes

I have also noticed being blocked by motorists, gratification is that they will still be there while I am relaxing at destination. I once got a GTi junkie, pulled up next to him at the traffic lights while he was revving his car, revved the bike once, and that was it, RACE on. As the feeder...

Is a dusty chain an unhappy chain?

Agreed on the  prepsol cleaning and taking the bike around the block to dry. My preference is Motul off road for dirt and Motul Factory chain lube or S100 chain lube for road, these 2 are teflon based, give good lubrication, doesn't fling and lasts longer than the rest.

    KLR Penta xorst

The original is chambered, more restriction, more heat, the Penta is free flow, less restriction, less heat. But keep an eye on the packing, singles and twins are heavy on that, when it blows away you have hot spots that lead to discoloring of the can or a burnt hole if it is bad enough.
