660Z stock rear suspension links length ?

sidetrack Hope you got sorted with the lowering links. Sorry I was not on the site for a while. For your information ... I also got lowering links from someone and they dropped the bike too low. Back wheel caught the Leo Vince pipe crossing over to the left hand side when hitting speed humps at...

Yamaha has just launched a 990....well sort off....

Well it looks like the new owners of the Yamaha T700 are quite happy with their bikes. Some real world evaluations here https://advrider.com/f/threads/yamaha-t700-tenere-owners-thread.1395958/

    XTZ lean and rich

My bike doesn’t get hot. Not the headers either. My XTZ in Australia has a single after market pipe and I installed a DNA air filter which I brought from SA. I have a FI diagnostic tool which I use to diagnose and adjust some settings on the bike like the CO which I used to increase the F/A...

    XTZ lean and rich

As far as my XTZ goes, it doesn’t get that hot. It might be that your bike is running too lean due to aftermarket pipes, air filter and/or power commander. I had to increase my CO after fitting DNA filter. I also have more free flowing after market pipes on my bike.

Goeie diens van BikeGear in die Baai

I've only had good service from BikeGear when I stayed in PE. Bought a lot of stuff from them. Good blokes, good service!

    XTZ GPS Mounting

I saw on your photo that the bracket was further from the cluster. You can stick more layers of those rubber strips on top of each other. But the mounting rod of the bike will be strong enough I’m sure. Enjoy!

    XTZ GPS Mounting

Sorry I’m in Tasmania now and don’t have access to my old photos. The Montana mount I got from an online shop in SA when I lived there. Same as the Garmin one: https://buy.garmin.com/en-AU/AU/p/113581 And the clamp I got from Bikegear in PE when I stayed there...

    XTZ GPS Mounting

I’ve got my Garmin Montana, which is also a heavy GPS, mounted there with a SW-Motech clamp fixed to the Montana bike cradle mount. It vibrates a lot (so much so that I had to fix my GPS in landscape view, otherwise it would jump between portrait and landscape view), and to dampen the vibration...

    Gatmin Montana 61 vs 276cx

2012 XT660Z oil and air filter.

Good advice from Sidetrack there. I also got sold some spray on filter oil by a reputable bike mech, but luckily before I used it I managed to get the DNA filter service kit which has the correct cleaning agent and filter oil. The oil is thin and when applied to the folds on the filter it seeps...

    Refurbishment of grips

Had cricket bat grips over my 800GS heated grips as well to save the BMW grips. Worked fine, but started to crack at the edges after some time. Were very cheap though. I'd also rather get the grips form Chris and then decide if you want to cover them for protection with cricket bat grips.

    Top box

I've been using the Trax 38L top box from Bikegear on my last two bikes. I notice they now go for about R6800 to R7300 depending on model, including mounting bracket. They work very nice for city use. A helmet fits in and it's lockable. When doing rough off-road, it gets panel beaten from the...

DIY Installation of LED Spots on a bike

Edgar I had my spots on a previous 800GS just like you want yours. All I did was to connect the (separate) trip wire (connected to the headlight high beam wire) directly to the relay with a handlebar switch in line. The power to the spots will only be activated when the trip wire from the high...

Welding side stand foot - who can help - JHB

For what it's worth, you can also investigate filing the side stand stop a bit so the side stand moves further forward/outward which let the bike lean over more. Which is what you want. I can't tell if it would work with your specific bike, but if it does, it will save you some cutting and welding.

    Moving from an F800GS to a XT660Z

Very good comparison between the 800GS and the 660Z. It resonates with mine as I also went from the 800 to the 660Z. Saw your bike in the window the week before you bought it. Very nice neat one that. It's funny how lighter the 660 handles compared to the 800, even though it has less power and...

    After market cans for XT660R

Some guys cut the standard box open and remove the catalytic conversion material on the XT660Z. It seems do give a bit more power and sounds better. Don't know about the XT660R. Try and do a search at XT660.com forum
